Upcoming Talent: Nicolette Godiva - Westwood, New Jersey
Nicolette Godiva, born Aysha Pennington is one of the most successful well rounded urban models to date. At the age of twenty-three, Nicolette Godiva is busy. Born in Jacksonville, NC and raised in Westwood, New Jersey, she is a student at Montclair State University majoring in Broadcasting Communications while working part time for Hip Hop Publicist Lynn Hobson and pursuing her career as a Model.
“As a Broadcasting Major, I accepted as job as a Photography Assistant with a New Jersey based Photographer”, says Ms. Godiva who has been modeling for the past two years. “I then became extremely intrigued with the entire process and preparation it took for models to even step in front of the camera. I became curious and so tried it”.
Never looking back, Nicolette Godiva decided to take modeling seriously. “I love being in front of the camera. I figured it would be great to make a career out of something I do enjoy. What I love most about modeling is interacting with everyone on set. From the Photographers, Make Up Artists, and Hair Stylists, I just am in awe of the whole “Before & After” of it all”.
Nicolette lets us in on what her unique style is that sets her apart from the norm. "My signature style is very 1950s fashion. I love the whole era from the music to the fashion to film. My biggest influence of the 1950s is noted actress Dorothy Dandridge. As a black woman, in that time period, she conquered all odds and thrived. No one could do it like her."
When asked why the name Nicolette Godiva, she states, “I decided to coin the moniker Nicolette Godiva because Nicolette is pretty and sensual. Godiva is sweet and chocolate like me”. With her petite frame almond colored eyes, and curvaceous style, work has really started to gravitate to her.
Cultivating relationships while digging into the books, Nicolette Godiva’s career is emerging and evolving. In 2010, Nicolette Godiva was featured in “VBlazin Magazine”; Black Rob’s music video; participated in the Funkmaster Flex’s “Car & Bike Show” Fashion Show, and more. Additional fashion show involvement has included the John Dean Collections; Eastwick Productions; and Juelz Santana’s Annual “Santana’s Town” Fashion Show.
In 2011, Nicolette Godiva played a principle role in Maino’s “Let It Fly” video, which was featured on BET’s “106th & Park”; www.worldstarhiphop.com; www.thisis50.com; and several other sites. At the end of 2011, she shot her first COVER for Digital Dolls Magazine, an extremely popular online men’s media outlet.
Additionally, Nicolette Godiva has been featured on a lot of Urban Websites such as Naked Hustle Magazine; Urban Diva Magazine; This Is 69.com; Streetwork Music.com as a featured weekly Vixen; and more.
When asked where she sees herself five years from now, she says, “I see myself on Television combining my two interests. I see myself as a Host on a Network and/or Publication. I see myself doing anything major within the field of Entertainment”. Some of Ms. Godiva’s current influences are Rosa Acosta; Melissa Ford; Veronica Vior; Vita Guerrera; and Suelyn.
